FOOTBALL ACADEMY

The Nescot Football Academy, in association with Johnson Football Schools, provides aspiring football players with the opportunity to combine education with football.

The team

The academy allows boys and girls to train and compete full time around their education. They will be coached technically and tactically as well as having gym programmes. To play in the teams, members must keep up-to-date with all their college work.

Top tier

The academy teams compete in the top tier and second tier of the Tactic League. Academy players also get the chance to showcase their skills in friendly fixtures against professional teams such as Millwall, Peterborough and Southampton, with many players subsequently being offered trials.

Players interested in college scholarships abroad have also been able to showcase their ability in front of coaches from universities in the USA, who have been invited to watch fixtures and training. The aim for the development squad is to progress players through into semi-professional and professional first teams.

Combining football with education

Nescot Football Academy Manager, Jack Johnson, has been in charge of the Academy for 14 years and is currently Academy Coach at Fulham FC. The Nescot JFS Academy replicates the programme Jack uses to great success at Fulham FC Academy, which includes :

  • Tactical and technical sessions
  • Individual training programmes
  • Fitness and gym-based sessions
  • Nutritional programmes
  • Match analysis
  • Competitive league & cup fixtures
  • Showcase games
  • Access to physiotherapists
  • Combining the football programme with education, our students are given the best opportunity to pursue a path in football professionally and semi-professionally alongside their education, allowing them to go on to university or successfully enter the working world. Johnson Football Schools have lots of contacts through professional and semi-professional football. ‘JFS’ Chief scout, Peter Johnson, has scouted many premier league talents and has enjoyed six professional football league promotions with sides he has helped put together.
