Course Overview
The Level 2 Technical Certificate in Business Enterprise programme is the ideal starting point for students who wish to study business or finance sectors or higher education with a view of progressing onto higher level Business qualifications. The course covers a broad range of units in business, enterprise and finance. It is an ideal qualification for learners intending to progress directly to employment in a business, or to a Level 3 Technical qualification or an Apprenticeship.
Entry Requirements
Four GCSE’s at grade 3 or above to include Maths and English.*

What the course covers
All the content of the qualification is mandatory and relates directly to the skills, knowledge and behaviours expected by employers in this sector. The areas covered include:

- Marketing
- Business planning
- Pitching an enterprise
- Work experience
There are four mandatory units studied:
- Unit 1 The Business Enterprise Environment – (Externally Assessed)
- Unit 2 Researching a Concept for a New or Revised Product or Service (Internally Assessed)
- Unit 3 Promoting and Financing an Enterprise Idea (Internally Assessed)
- Unit 4 Planning and Pitching an Enterprise Idea (Internal Synoptic)
Assessment
This qualification has 100% mandatory content and 25% external assessment. Assessment is mainly by coursework, which is marked by your lecturers.
Unit 1 The Business Enterprise Environment is an on-demand exam unit, and your teacher will set the date once you have completed the unit.
Work Experience is a part of this course, the hours and dates will be determined by the course tutor. Work experience can be up to a maximum of two weeks on an external placement, you are encouraged to source your own placement with support from your course tutor. Where external placements are not possible you will be expected to take part in simulated work experience organised by the college.
Fees and funding
Please note:
- Students aged 16 to 18, or those aged 16 to 24 who have a valid EHCP, and are studying Further Education courses are not charged for course fees

A range of compulsory and optional visits will be arranged which will enhance the learning on the course.
Progression
Level 1 Diploma plus English and Maths. A satisfactory reference for attitude, behaviour, attendance and punctuality.
Career Progression
From this qualification you can progress on to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship or other Level 3 qualifications or enter employment as an office junior or administrative support worker. Employment opportunities in this area are varied and plentiful. However, the majority of students choose to gain further qualifications with us.
