Nescot College has been awarded Explorer Level certification in the AiEd Certified Framework, recognising its commitment to exploring and shaping the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education in a responsible, ethical and purposeful way.
The achievement highlights Nescot’s proactive approach to embracing emerging technologies while ensuring that AI is used to enhance teaching, learning and operational excellence across the college.
The AI in Education Certification Framework provided the Innovation Team at the college with a valuable opportunity to step back and reflect on how we are integrating AI across the college. It helped us understand where we are on our AI journey and gave us the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the great work already taking place across the college, as well as providing a strong foundation for the next stage of our AI journey and the opportunities it will bring for our students, staff and wider college community.
A major contribution to this achievement came from Nescot’s Innovation team, whose dedication and expertise have been instrumental in establishing a thoughtful and strategic approach to identifying opportunities for AI adoption. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the college, the team has helped ensure that innovation is aligned with educational priorities and student success.
I’m delighted that Nescot has achieved the AiEd Certified Explorer Level certification. This has been a significant piece of work and a special thank you goes to the team, who have dedicated a huge amount of time, effort and expertise to achieving this milestone. There has been a great deal of work taking place behind the scenes, and it is fantastic to see that our commitment recognised through this certification.
As the AI in Education team rightly highlights, this is a marathon, not a sprint. The certification process has been a really valuable experience, allowing us to reflect on the progress we are making across key areas including AI literacy, policies and ethics, tools and systems, digital pedagogy, and collaboration and community.
Most importantly, it has given us the opportunity to showcase the work and commitment of the college and recognise the impact of the work we are doing as a college to develop a responsible and confident approach to AI integration in education
