The Motorsports Department roars into the new racing season at Brands Hatch

The Motorsports Department kicked off the new racing season at Brands Hatch at the weekend.

Led by George Keith, the team included a mix of race experienced students and those attending their very first race, creating a valuable learning opportunity for everyone.

Students played an active role, carrying out vehicle checks and general maintenance to support the team on race day and gain hands-on, real-world experience.

The students were impressed by the Nescot driver Elliott Lettis who delivered a strong performance despite disappointing engine performance, securing 12th place for #TeamNescot. 2023 CityCar Cup Champion Lettis joined the NESCOT team part way through the 2025 season and has been retained for the 2026 season. Interviewed by Isabel Clark, on behalf of Student Motorsport on the day Elliott said:

“This weekend has been a challenge as we have had issues with our car – the DS3 and the city car – we’re struggling with straight line speed but we’re trying to develop that and make it quicker.”

After finishing 8th in the competition standings in 2025, the aim is to build on that and hopefully climb up the standings this season. The team is currently busy preparing a second car for the next race at Snetterton on 9-10 May and we wish them the best of luck as the season continues.
