Level 1 Health, Social Care and Children and Young People’s Settings

Course Overview

This qualification aims to give you the basic knowledge necessary to care for children of a variety of ages, learning how to keep them healthy and safe.

The course includes BTEC Level 1 and 2 Cooking Skills and CACHE Level 1 Certificate in Well-Being.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of grade 2 in GCSE maths and English*.

You will need to apply for a DBS check when you start the course.

*The College reserves the right to ask for a school reference if required.

What the course covers

You will learn the importance of both play and healthy eating in the growth and development of children and the projects you undertake will develop your own interpersonal and life skills. As part of the course you may be offered the opportunity to undertake work experience in a childcare setting.

You are required to complete 15 hours work experience, which will be planned and organised by your Placement Officer.
