Course Overview
The full-time Introductory Diploma in Public Services at Nescot is a one-year course aimed at students with an interest in a career in the Public Services. The course contains a mixture of theoretical lessons and practical sessions in the sports hall and college fields, as well as local outdoor activity centres.
Entry Requirements
Two GCSEs at grade 2 or above, preferably English and maths or Functional Skills at E3 maths and English*.
*The College reserves the right to ask for a school reference if required.
What the course covers
The units are selected from the list below and staff aim to ensure they maximise students’ chances of gaining employment in the public services in future.
We encourage students who perform well on the Introductory Diploma in Public Services course to apply for the Level 2 Diploma in Public Services qualification at Nescot.
Throughout the course students will undertake health and fitness units which are combined with teamwork, leadership and uniformed public services-related subjects. Learning will take place through lectures, group work, debates, group discussions and outdoor practical exercises.

Fees and funding
Please note:
- Students aged 16 to 18, or those aged 16 to 25 who have a valid EHCP, are not charged course fees.
