Level 3 Beauty

Course Overview

This full-time Beauty Therapy course is for those who want to become qualified Beauty Therapists. The main part of your programme consists of underpinning knowledge and understanding alongside the development of practical skills within a salon environment treating paying clients.

Entry Requirements

Level 2 Diploma in Beauty (either Technical or Merits at VRQ or equivalent) plus English and a satisfactory reference from your tutor. You will also be interviewed in the spring term by a member of the Beauty Team.

What the course covers

The main aim of the VTCT (ITEC) Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy is to enable learners to gain the necessary practical skills and knowledge in order to provide beauty therapy treatments to the general public and to gain employment in the spa and beauty industry. The qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 and over and is designed to provide occupational competence at level 3. It also provides a sound platform into further learning at levels 4 and 5.

The units are as follows:

• Provide body massage
• Provide massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils
• Provide spa treatments
• Provide body and facial electrotherapy treatments
• Apply stone therapy massage
• Apply microdermabrasion
• Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
• Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
• Working in the beauty related industries

This course also requires you to carry out external work experience which is undertaken on days/times when you do not have timetabled classes. You are encouraged to source your own placement with support from the WEX Team and your course tutor.

Fees and funding

Students aged 16 to 18, or those aged 16 to 24 with a valid EHCP, who are studying Further Education courses are not charged course fees.
