Course Overview

Our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Content Creation prepares you for an exciting job in the creative industries, giving you practical experience across multiple media sectors. Using industry-standard equipment, you will work solo and in teams to produce high-impact long and short-form content for diverse social platforms. You will gain skills in multi-camera podcast production and graphic design for professional marketing campaigns. You will also have the opportunity to develop high-quality, single-camera YouTube content.

Entry Requirements

New Students: 4 GCSE’s at grade 4 or above including English.*

*The College reserves the right to ask for a school reference if required.

Progressing Students: Progressing students must achieve at least a Merit in their Level 2 course to move onto a Level 3. A good reference for attitude, behaviour, attendance and punctuality is essential.

What the course covers

On this UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma course, you will develop key skills in:

  • Marketing Materials : Creating promotional materials and content tailored for digital platforms.
  • Competitions : Understanding and participating in competitive events, from esports tournaments to content challenges.
  • Filming : Mastering advanced camera operation, composition, and shot techniques.
  • Editing : Honing technical skills in video and audio post-production.
  • Writing Skills : Strengthening creative and technical writing for diverse media projects.
  • Teamwork : Collaborating effectively in production teams.
  • Projects such as Promotional Film, Twitch Stream, Branding, and Content Creation : Gaining hands-on experience in real-world, digital marketing and esports projects.

Throughout the course, you will also develop essential communication, literacy, and problem-solving skills that are crucial for success in the creative industries and digital marketing.

Teaching and Industry Experience

At NESCOT, our tutors have extensive industry experience, ensuring that your learning is practical, relevant, and industry-focused. Guest speakers from creative sectors, including digital marketers, esports professionals, content creators, and influencers, will provide valuable insight into real-world career pathways.
Other trips include exhibitions and esports events throughout the year.
We also offer international trips for our second-year students, with previous destinations including Barcelona, Berlin, and New York City.

Student Success and Progression

We encourage students to take part in competitions and work experience to develop their skills and confidence. Many students progress to higher education in digital marketing or esports at top institutions or pursue careers in content creation, digital media, or online streaming platforms.
We also offer a Level 4 in Lens-Based Media and Creative Enterprise, which many of our students choose to progress onto before their university journey.

Assessment

Your progress will be assessed through coursework, with grades awarded at Pass, Merit, or Distinction.
You will be graded Pass or Fail for Units 1-7 in Year 1 and Units 9-12 in Year 2. The final grade will come from Unit 13, which is the Final Major Project.

Work Experience

As part of this course, you will complete up to two weeks of work experience with an external-based client within the college that simulates industry work. You will receive support throughout this project.
