Nescot Travel & Tourism Students visit Holiday Inn Gatwick Worth | Nescot

Nescot Level 3 Year 2 Travel and Tourism students recently enjoyed an inspiriting visit to the Holiday Inn Gatwick Worth Hotel, part of the IHG Hotel group, as part of their study programme. The informative visit offered invaluable insight as part of their learning into the products, services, and events offered by a leading accommodation provider.

Students were given a comprehensive tour of the hotel by Chris Schoeman, Hotel Director, Louise Russell, Director of Sales and Marketing, and Graham Allen, Operations Manager.

The group also learned about the Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) brands, with presentations highlighting employment opportunities within the hospitality sector.

After enjoying a delicious lunch, students worked in teams to develop innovative event ideas that could generate income for the hotel. These ideas were presented to a panel of judges, challenging students to think on their feet about pricing, logistics, and operations. The exercise helped them strengthen their transferable skills, including communication, problem-solving, and teamwork.

Student Nicole shared: “We had a lovely day at Holiday Inn Gatwick Worth. The tour was informative, and it was helpful to learn about different ways the hotel generates revenue.”

Jennifer Fasad, Nescot Travel and Tourism lecturer, added: “We would like to thank Chris and his team for kindly hosting our students again. The opportunity to visit a major brand hotel first hand is invaluable experience and a lovely learning opportunity.”

Chris Schoeman, Holiday Inn Gatwick Worth Hotel Director commented: “It was a real pleasure to welcome the Level 3 Year 2 Travel and Tourism students from Nescot to our hotel. We are proud to support the next generation of hospitality professionals by giving them first-hand insight into how our industry operates. The students showed great creativity and confidence in presenting their event ideas, and it was inspiring to see them apply their classroom learning in a practical setting. Opportunities like this not only strengthen their skills but also highlight the exciting career paths available within hospitality and tourism.”

A huge thank you to the Holiday Inn Gatwick Worth team for hosting and inspiring our students.
