Course Overview
Designed to be taken over one year, the course gives learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills in the hospitality and tourism sector and supports progression to further study. It is a substantial vocational qualification in a study programme that will include other appropriate subjects such as English and maths.
Entry Requirements
Two GCSEs at grade 9-2 in Maths and English .
The College reserves the right to ask for a school reference if required.
What the course covers
These qualifications consist of two types of unit. Group A units are the core skills units, they cover content designed to reflect the skills and behaviours needed to progress to further study. Group B units are made up of sector units containing sector-specific content to enable learners to develop sector-specific skills and some knowledge to support progression to the next stage of vocational learning.

- Researching a Topic
- Exploring Local Visitor Attractions
- Exploring Travel and Tourism in the UK
- Contribute to Running a Hospitality and Tourism Event
- Delivering Customer Service in Hospitality and Tourism
- Using Websites to Make Holiday Choices
- Promoting Hospitality and Tourism Events

Assessment
There is a range of assessment methods used including presentations, reports, posters and practical assessments.
Fees and funding
Students aged 16 to 18, or those aged 16 to 24 with a valid EHCP, who are studying Further Education courses are not charged course fees.

Progression
Students may progress onto Level 2 Travel & Tourism.
Duration
1 year full time. Usually 3-4 days per week, 10.5 – 13.5 hours per week.
